Not sure whether to study Japanese or another language?  Having difficulty convincing your parents why you should study Japanese?  Consider reading this presentation: "Why study Japanese?"  (A special thanks to Ambassador John R. Malott for use of this presentation he made to the delegation of Japanese teachers at the 2014 National Japan Bowl!)

ANNOUNCEMENTS & NEWS

Japan Club Meeting

The next meeting of the Japan Club will take place on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25th, from 2:40-3:40pm in Room 116.

Our most recent meeting took place on Monday, 2/4.  Students presented information on Setsubun and shared information on how Valentine's Day is celebrated in Japan.

Our meetings typically consist of a business and announcements first, then a cultural presentation and/or activity for the rest of the time.

Temple University Japan Campus Visit

On February 26th (T), a GOLD day, an admissions officer from Temple University Japan Campus will be speaking with students in the Japanese classes and Mr. Collazo's study hall (Periods 5-8); if you would like to know more about the school but are not in his classes, speak with Mr. Collazo to get a pass to one of the presentations.

Kizuna Across Cultures Global Classmates

This year our Level 3 & 4 students are participated in the Global Classmates Program sponsored by Kizuna Across Cultures.  We were paired up with Kunori Gakuen High School in Yamagata Prefecture (in northeastern Japan) to discuss a variety of topics of common interest online using Schoology as our platform for communication.  We exchanged "omiyage" gifts by mail and discussed a variety of topics online from September through February.  Unfortunately, our program is coming to an end now, but our students have learned so much from our peers across the ocean.
